I love building relationships with people. People are my thing.

My name is Amanda Hermsen. I am a Senior Project Manager at EPIC Creative.

I don’t know when it started, but I remember when I was younger, my grandpa, anytime we went anywhere—he would always ask whoever the customer service person was—whether it was a waitress or someone in the drive through—he always asked their name. I picked it up and when I was working in a law firm. (It only lasted three months, then I came to EPIC.) But when I was working in a law firm, I had asked the mailman. I had seen him a couple times because I was working at the front desk, but I had asked his name. He said his name was John and right before he left, he said, “I’ve been working at this job for 30 years and no one has ever asked my name.” And he was like, “You’re going to go far in life.” I just like to get to know people.

I have the palette of a five year old. I have like 50 Uncrustables in fridge right now. So Karen works at McDonald’s. Ellis, he is the manager of Taco Bell on Main Street. Latanya used to work at Noodles and Company, but then she moved to the KFC. Sarah works at the Scrub-A-Dub. Brazenhead has the really good grilled cheese and Don works there. Don’s usually the bartender.

When we go out for EPIC lunches, you always go back knowing their name. I just like close-knit towns and that’s what West Bend is. There’s restaurants. There’s bars. There’s farmers markets. There’s a lot of things to do. I mean, I probably would’ve ended up at EPIC anyway, because it was a place that I really wanted to work when I was at Marquette. I think it’s rare to find a company where you truly enjoy every single person there, and I just think that building relationships is very important, both inside and outside of work.
